We are excited to share details about an upcoming update in PLAYipp that will make it easier to get a clear and logical overview of your screens. Instead of manually setting up a tree structure, PLAYipp will now organize your screens automatically, based on the address registered on each screen.
What is changing?
An automatic geographic structure replaces the manual tree structure
Previously, you had to set up the tree structure in PLAYipp yourself, meaning you manually created sections and locations to organize your screens. This required time and ongoing maintenance, especially for organizations with screens across multiple sites.
With the new geographic structure, PLAYipp handles the organization automatically. The structure is built based on the address information already registered on your screens and is presented in three levels:
- Country
- County
- City
- Address
This means you get a clear and logical overview right away, without any manual configuration required.
Benefits of the new structure
Always updated automatically – The structure updates automatically when you add new screens. If you have two screens in Gävle and add a new one in Sandviken, Sandviken is automatically created as a new city in the structure without any manual work required.
Saves time – You no longer need to spend time configuring and maintaining the structure manually. PLAYipp handles it for you, based on information already in the system.
Always accurate – Because the structure reflects the addresses registered on your screens, there is no risk of screens ending up in the wrong place due to manual errors.
Scalable – Whether you have ten or a thousand screens across multiple locations, the structure grows with your organization without any extra effort.
Tags as a complement to the geographic structure
The geographic structure organizes your screens by location, but sometimes you also need to group screens by what they are or who they are aimed at, regardless of where they are. That is exactly what tags are for.
With tags, you label individual screens with your own keywords, for example Reception, Internal, Customer, or Campaign. A screen can have multiple tags and you create them freely based on what suits your organization.
Tags are especially useful if you have previously organized your screens by screen type or business area in the tree structure. That type of information fits better as tags and complements the new geographic structure without duplicating it.

Coming soon: Publish based on geographic location
The geographic structure also forms the foundation for a separate upcoming feature in PLAYipp.
With it, you will be able to set criteria to automatically group screens together, for example all screens in Stockholm. When you publish content to that channel, it automatically reaches all screens that match the criteria. If you then add a new screen with an address in Stockholm, it is included in the channel automatically without any manual steps.
It will also be possible to combine geographic criteria with tags to make the selection more precise. For example, you could target all screens in Stockholm with the tag Reception, making it easy to reach the right screens with the right content without managing them one by one.
This feature has not been released yet. We will share more information as it gets closer to launch.
What do you need to do?
The best thing you can do before the launch is to go through your screens and make sure they have correct and complete addresses. The new structure is built entirely on this address information, and the better your addresses are, the better the structure will be from day one.
We have put together a guide that shows you how to easily complete addresses for your screens: Complete addresses for your screens
Once the feature is launched, you do not need to do anything more. PLAYipp reads the address information and builds the structure automatically.
Screens that do not have a correct address will not be placed in the geographic structure. Instead, they will be gathered in a separate section until an address has been added.
When is it coming?
The geographic structure is currently under development and is planned to launch during summer 2026.
