Why does my Samsung or LG screen keep switching back to PLAYipp instead of staying on HDMI?
Some customers experience that their Samsung or LG SoC displays do not stay on the selected HDMI input. The screen may keep switching back to the PLAYipp app, which makes it impossible to fully use Auto Source Priority or to manually switch between HDMI sources.
Why this happens
By default, the PLAYipp app uses a built-in watchdog to ensure the screen always comes back online. On some displays, this can override the screen’s own input logic. This will result in the screen restarting after about 10 minutes if PLAYipps app is not active.
Workaround
However, you can work around it by first clicking the blue button on the remote control. Then a log will appear on the screen. When it is open, you can switch to another source on the screen. After this, the screen will not restart.
This must be done every time you want to switch from the PLAYipp app.
Solution
This screen/player behaviour can be adjusted using an internal configuration available to PLAYipp support agents. Customers cannot change this setting themselves, but our support team can.
If you need your screen to stay on Auto Source Priority or allow manual HDMI switching, please contact us on Contact PLAYipp support or phone, chat. Please have your Screen ID or screen name, and the account it belongs to ready for the screens you want us to adjust.
We will then add the watchdog=0 configuration to experimental options for you.
