Playport HDMI Resolution Configuration Guide
Overview
The Playport 2 is an Android 7-based digital signage media player that outputs video content via HDMI. In some installations, the device may not automatically detect the optimal resolution for the connected display, resulting in incorrect scaling, black borders, or content appearing off-screen. This commonly occurs when:
- The display's EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) is not properly communicated over long HDMI cable runs
- Using HDMI extenders, splitters, or matrix switches that interfere with EDID handshaking
- Connecting to commercial displays or video walls with non-standard resolution requirements
- The display supports multiple resolutions and the auto-detected setting isn't optimal
Forcing a specific HDMI resolution ensures consistent output regardless of EDID communication issues and guarantees your content displays correctly across all screens in your deployment.
